167th Charity Fairy – BTS
Congratulations to global superstars BTS as they have become CHOEAEDOL’s 167th Charity Fairy. On June 13, 2021, the day when they celebrate their eighth debut anniversary, ARMYs, their fans, have celebrated the special moment by giving the hearts they earned on CHOEAEODL and voting for the idols on our daily chart. In the end, ARMYs have contributed 84,142,245 hearts and thus helped BTS to become CHOEAEDOL’s 167th Charity Fairy. Hence, we are going to donate, in BTS’s name, ₩500(USD 440) to MIRAL Welfare Foundation, a Korean charity that comprehensively handles problems related to disabilities that may be revealed in a wide range of the social spectrum, including physical and mental disabilities. We are so happy to celebrate BTS’s 8th anniversary by doing such a meaningful act. We want to thank every ARMY who voted for BTS and send our congratulations to BTS, for both their debut anniversary and the latest Charity Fairy title.

Learning Korean with BTS
As global superstars, BTS has been promoting different sides of Korea to the world. They have also become a very handy starting point for foreigners who are interested in Korea to start getting into Korean cultures. A lot of foreigners have learned their first Korean vocabulary, phrase or sentence through BTS’s lyrics or their contents in other media. BTS is truly the global ambassador of Korea.
The Korean government feels the same, and this is where the Korean Ministry of Education would like to push BTS’s influence even further. The MOE has decided to implement BTS’s music and videos in the Korean language learning material they produce in order to systematic support the teaching of Korean in foreign countries.
Under MOE’s plan, they are going to produce learning material following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
According to 2020’s data, there are approximately 160 thousand students in 1669 schools in 39 countries attending Korean language classes.
The new material is going to incorporate QR codes to allow students to access online contents related. MOE is also going to produce cultural material related to Korean history and culture and also teaching material making use of Hallyu contents.
Particularly, considering the popularity of BTS internationally, the new material is going make use of BTS’s music and video contents.
MOE is planning to finish this project at the end of the year.
8 years of BTS. 8 years ago no one would have thought that BTS would become a global phenomenon like they are now. This success is not just about them, but also their fans, ARMY, and everyone who love Korea and Korean culture. We hope BTS and ARMY could continue their phenomenal run of the last 8 years, and create more amazing moments for everyone in the coming years.

The title of Charity Fairy is given to the idol who received over 55,555,555 daily votes in CHOEAEDOL app during the whole month. Only the idols who have anniversaries (e.g. birthday, comeback and debut anniversary) during the month could challenge for the Charity Fairy title.
To honour the Charity Fairies, we donate 500k KRW in the name of the Charity Fairies. You will see the Donation Certificate within 2-3 weeks of the announcement on our Twitter.
