Congratulations SECRET NUMBER for becoming CHOEAEDOL’s 155th Charity Fairy, as Lockeys celebrated SECRET NUMBER ‘s first debut anniversary by casting their votes for their idols and help their idols to top the chart on May 19. On that day, SECRET NUMBER gained 59,904,308 votes and has passed the thresholds of 55,555,555 votes, thus has acquired the title of Charity Fairy, and ₩500(USD 440) will be donated in the name of SECRET NUMBER to MIRAL Welfare Foundation, a Korean charity that comprehensively handles problems related to disabilities that may be revealed in a wide range of the social spectrum, including physical and mental disabilities. This is our first time to have SECRET NUMBER to be Charity Fairy. Congratulations SECRET NUMBER, and thank you very much Lockeys for putting their efforts into this. A symbol of internationalism of K-Pop

As a next-generation girl group, SECRET NUMBER is showing the audience how much the K-Pop industry has changed since the very beginning.

As K-Pop has developed itself from a domestic pastime to an international phenomenon, the composition of the industry has also incorporated international elements at different levels.

And as a girl group with more foreign numbers than Korean members, the existence of SECRET NUMBER is a living example of how much the K-Pop industry has gone worldwide.

First and for most, SECRET NUMBER is an international girl group, as three of the five members, lead vocal Léa from Japan, main dancer Dita from Indonesia and main vocal Denise from the US, are non-Korean, while main rapper Jinny holds dual nationalities of Korea and America.

SECRET NUMBER is also the first K-Pop girl group to include an Indonesian member. This echoes with the current business trend of expanding the South East Asian market. Apart from Dita, at this moment there are 10 Thais, 3 Singaporeans and 1 Filipino idols in the K-Pop industry.

Léa, Jinny and Denise are all participants of different survival audition shows such as Produce 48 and K-Pop Star, and all the international members can speak exceptionally good Korean, English and, of course, their first languages. As for Léa, she had previous K-debut experience as a member of another girl group Skarf.

As a rookie girl group, SECRET NUMBER’s popularity is comparable with some Year 2, 3 girl groups, typically their popularity outside Korea is exceptional, particularly in Indonesia. This can be seen in the comment session under their Youtube videos, where English and Indonesian comments are the majorities. Comparatively, despite the early success in the international market, there is still room for improvement domestically. Nonetheless, the example of SECRET NUMBER shows us how the K-Pop industry could embrace an audience outside Korea. As an idol group under a small agency, what they are achieving in the last year is rather impressive. And even though a small agency means fewer resources, it doesn’t mean SECRET NUMBER is not going to be a successful girl group in the future. As the K-Pop industry diversifies domestically and expands internationally, opportunities have never been this abundant.

As an IT and mobile game company, this venture into the K-Pop industry is not easy for INFOvine. However, the achievement of SECRET NUMBER so far would certainly be seen as a positive sign internally.

The title of Charity Fairy is given to the idol who received over 55,555,555 daily votes in CHOEAEDOL app during the whole month. Only the idols who have anniversaries (e.g. birthday, comeback and debut anniversary) during the month could challenge for the Charity Fairy title.
